Cell coverage on cruises can be a challenge. Verizon has a new plan that makes it simpler.
To use your cell phone on your cruise, you have two options — either connect to the ship’s cellular service or connect to the ship’s wi-fi. Both will cost you extra and costs vary widely by ship. Travelpass covered specific countries and once you hit a covered country it automatically turned on for $10/day. Verizon’s new plan provides coverage on ships and planes and provides 50MB per month for $20/day.
1. The company must opt employees in.
2. Employees must activate their plan for use on Cruise Ships and Airplanes when they board – it can only be activated on a plane/ship.
The International Monthly Plan (data only on cruise ships and airplanes) is $20– Employer MUST opt in and plan cannot be added in advance.
Once the employer has opted in, the plan enables users to add the plan when they board if service is available. The plan provides 50MB data per line, per month for use on select airplanes and cruise ships.
Employees are only charged if they add the plan onboard airplanes and cruise ships where service is available. There is no charge otherwise.
