Adopting a child from an underprivileged country is unbelievably expensive.
Legal costs and bureaucratic nonsense can push cost as high as $25k. Without help from friends and family, some couples would not be able to make this dream come true.
Good friends of ours decided to host a fundraising event for such a couple who are looking to adopt from Bogota, Columbia. They showed such generosity in opening up their home to vendors who all donated a percentage of profits to the cause. With my natural warmth and love of all women parties, I was given the job of greeter and raffle ticket salesman (A job that was relinquished from me after my wife realized I was freaking people out by being a little too intense). Anyway, a great cause and a no-brainer to give them $150 towards their mission.
They are currently working through the legal process and hope to have everything in place to have a new addition to the family by summer 2017.
