I wanted to share with all of you what happened since yesterday that is pretty amazing…Some sunshine amidst all this gloom.
Mike Shonholz sent me a text about 5:30 yesterday wanting to know how he could help with efforts assisting others in need. After a few texts and a quick call we had a plan. I reached out to a friend that runs Hunger Relief and advised her Mike and his family would be bringing in a load of cereal. The most requested item in the pantry! See the attached photo of his trunk. The Pantry sends their thanks, Mike! A box of cereal is something children that visit the pantries go crazy over. Imagine when you were a kid and would watch commercials during cartoons. 😊
In addition, Mike sent me some money via PayPal to go towards a trip to Restaurant Depot. I reached out to a friend for kitchen space late last night so I could cook some pastas for families in need using a list provided by Liaisons. We had to go a bit underground for this mission but by 7 this morning, the mission was complete. Due to lots of regulations by the CDC, we were able to use an actual delivery driver to deliver the trays of pasta along with some other supplies. This person refused payment from me after he found out what we were doing and gave me his cell phone for future deliveries. 😊
(Photos attached of the pastas, large warming bins for food. The entire back was delivery bags 😊)
This morning Mike sent me money again via PayPal, this will go right back into another pick up of supplies for others. Thank you Cassie Kristen, and Kelly! With cooking regulations very tight for business owners, I plan to purchase products and write out recipe cards for the bags prior to dropping them off.
Bo will take another trip to fill “Burbo” our Suburban later today. The kids and I will pack when he returns and he will head out to drop off at the local schools. Also some other items requested from the pantry for women.
In just a few hours a few people made a lot of things happen for well over 100 people. I often go on these solo missions to try to do what I can. It has been nothing short of a blessing to have others jump in without notice and with a thrown together plan. Thank you ARG Team for your kindness, huge hearts and most importantly showing love towards others in need whom you have never met. That is what it’s all about!!! Random Acts of Kindness!
If you are looking for ways to give back close to home, please contact the food pantries, schools and other Non-Profit agencies around you. A little goes along way these days. Never feel like there is nothing that you cannot do. Food insecurities are HUGE in our area, you would be surprised how many are affected and often do not speak out due to shame and bullying.
#BoomerangBlessings…You get back exactly what you give out. There is power in one but imagine the things we can do if we join together!
Stay tuned for the next mission and photos!
Stay safe and healthy everyone!
Thank you all again from the bottom of my heart!!!
