We have been shopping for supplies every other week for the Friday ASPAN breakfast/lunch program at our church for a couple years, but work schedules have kept us from doing much else. Now that we are working from home, I gave my husband a few kid free hours to focus on work (it is his busy season) and took advantage of the opportunity to decorate and stuff lunch bags after my work day wrapped up. After a run to the store for supplies, we decorated 50 bags with messages and pictures and then stuffed them with water, cookies, fruit, and chips. Tomorrow, the amazing morning volunteer team will make sandwiches and tuck them in the top to give to the folks who need them. It was a great change of routine for us and the boys had a great time helping the homeless in more hands-on way than shopping and stocking shelves with me on the weekends.
