I went to a nearby 7-11 to purchase scratchers for a friend’s birthday and arrived at the counter to be third in line. The gentleman in front of me got to the counter and the cashier, who is very familiar with me stopping in, rings him up and gives him his total. Meanwhile, he’s fumbling through his wallet looking for his debit card, which was simply not in there. Before I even knew that I was doing it, I took a step forward and handed the cashier $10.00. This guy looked at me like I had a third eye. I asked him to pay it forward and focus on finding his debit card to have a lovely evening.
After he walked out of the store, the cashier asked if I knew him and of course, my reply was No. She was in just as much disbelief as he was and told me that ‘the Lord truly works in mysterious ways’ to which I replied, it’s just nice to be nice sometimes.
