“Mission accomplished! What a day and experience! With only a couple of deliveries left for today, we managed to cook and personally deliver meals to several dozen families. Some we found out were added to our list and were not aware the school had selected them. I can’t put into words their joy, especially the children. I am pretty sure we cried after leaving several houses and receiving countless hugs. One family actually pulled us in to pray with them. They asked for God to bless us! It was tough. Here were people without asking for us to be blessed. I had no words. I cannot tell you how overwhelmed we were with love from strangers.
We wrapped up around 2 am last night.
- Purchased over 500 lbs of meat (Turkey/Ham)
- Over 140 pounds of potatoes peeled
- 80 pounds of sweet potatoes
- 60+ lbs of gold potatoes
- Over 60 lbs of mac and cheese
- 40 lbs of stuffing
- 60 quarts of gravy
- 50 lbs of green beans
- 40 dozen dinner rolls
We had 4 hours of kitchen time to pull it off and we did it! My friend who was in town visiting for the week and I made all of the deliveries. It was an amazing experience and I pray I can do this over and over again. Next time I WILL solicit more help! 🙂
I hope you all have a wonderful holiday! There is power in numbers I always say. I am only one person and the power and experience of this random act of kindness I will never forget. I hope I can get some of the ARG family to jump in next time.
Blessings to all! Enjoy time with your families!”
