Here is what our engineers got up to on RAK day.
Matt and I pooled together some money to add to RAK funds and ended up with $140.00. We drove into Sterling, VA, looking for a RAK opportunity, and ended up in the Sterling Blvd Shopping Center. Matt immediately noticed a woman looking very stressed as she walked to her car from the DMV office. Her car was beat up and packed full of her belongings. He approached and handed her $30 and a RAK card. She was very confused by the gesture but equally grateful and returned a huge smile after reading the card. From there, across the parking lot, we noticed a coin laundromat and that is where we were able to RAK the rest. The place was full of moms with kids and a few older couples. There was a language barrier with most, but we handed out $20 bills to help them all pay for their laundry that day. Again, there was some initial confusion, but everyone was very grateful, as were Matt and I, to be able to make so many people smile. Next time we will be better prepared and armed with rolls of quarters.
