New neighbors moved into my neighborhood last week. A young family with a 3-year-old and a blind dog, and they all recently relocated from California. While speaking to the mom, and introducing myself (and Gabi) she told me that morning, on her first day taking her son to new day-care center and on her way to work, she saw a gaggle of geese crossing the street. She points this out to her son, sitting in the back, and in a split second, she hits a stopped car in front of her. Totals her old car, which was only a couple of years old! Luckily, no one was hurt, and in relaying the story to me, she was most grateful for that, and already had a loaner car. I was so impressed with her positive attitude, while so much was going on with her life right now. So I decided to pick up a card and include a gift card from Trader Joes ($25, I didn’t want to overwhelm her) and left the card on her doorstep the next morning, welcoming her to the neighborhood and letting her know how friendly and supportive we are.
