Last week I, unfortunately, had to take my friend to the local hospital because he fell and broke his leg and had some X-rays. While there, I met a 25-year-old guy sitting with his father who also broke his leg. They don’t have money like a lot of people here and we’re using the free hospital and have been sitting in the hospital for a month now. Here they don’t supply linens or food to the patients so you need to take care of your own. And I have to say even being in there for a short time I felt scared and very sad. There are so many people suffering the same fate. I just happened to meet one family and now I can’t turn my back on them. I believe things happen for a reason. Their son Francisco, can’t leave his dad’s side and sleeps on the dirty hospital floor to save money to be able to buy them food and meanwhile has taken off work to do this as he is the only son. and now they have run out of food money. I would like to see if anyone wants to contribute to helping me with their continued care. I offered to get him a $7/night hostel nearby but said he would rather sleep on the floor and use the money for food. I would love to help him with both. His father, also Francisco, is due to have another surgery in a few days and his kidneys are not working well. All around they need some help asap.
