Abby & her friend Maura wanted to help the homeless folks in our area and weren’t sure how they could best address the needs. I decided that this would be a fantastic place to use some of our RAK money, so we went to Target and got to work, filling 10 bags with several practical items: deodorant, hairbrushes, protein bars, small bottles of water, and much more. We filled the bags and had a great time putting our energy into something that had nothing to do with us – no gifts or wrapping, nothing to give or get. Well, except we were able to give a lot of folks something useful and we continue to get returns. The bags were distributed among the families and stay in cars, where we have been able to give them out when presented with an opportunity. This season has been a good one to talk to my kids about how very blessed we are, and how grateful we must always be for our good fortune. Using ARG’s RAK as a springboard for a larger conversation with my children has been an added bonus. Thank you!
