A Re'SIP'e for Success

A large state university, in the process of adding additional trunk group level routing to their very robust native SIP implementation, realized by chance that the provider had unexpectedly published an obscure DID number in error as the main listed number. While ARG applied executive level escalation to rectify the error, we also immediately suggested that the client utilize the provider’s portal to instantly redirect the otherwise obscure DID to the main number in the interim.

Crisis averted.

In fact not only did the SIP technology enable such a quick and easy remedy, it also permitted the university’s telecommunications department to track and monitor the un-expected situation.

By activating a “splash ring” against the obscure DID, they audibly were aware of how many calls were being forwarded and, when the forwarding stopped, had the immediate confirmation the correct DID had been re-instated as the university’s main number.
